3-5 YearsOur pre-school rooms caters for children aged 3 years until they leave for school. The staff ratio in pre-school is 1 member of staff to 8 children.
The pre-school area is split into two rooms, a quiet room where the children can read books, listen to story tapes, music, singing and our main room where a wide range of activities take place.
The pre-school room is designed to help your child prepare for school. Our aims include planning and creating a challenging and secure environment. This promotes children’s learning through planned activities as well as encouraging children’s spontaneous play whilst developing their language and communication. Through this method children can: explore, develop and represent learning experiences that help them make sense of the world, practise and build up ideas, concepts and skills, understand the need for rules, take risks and make mistakes, think creatively and imaginatively, communicate with others and solve problems.
We provide opportunities for your child to experience ‘hands- on’ activities with the guidance of our staff. Within our daily routine, we have a ‘table time’ which can last between 10 and 30 minutes depending on your child’s level of concentration. This is a period of time when we sit formally as a preliminary to what may be expected of the children at primary school.
Within our pre-school room children also have access to our large interactive ICT screen, assisting with progressive ICT skills.
